Classes
What is YinYang and is it right for me?
During a YinYang class we do active postures (yang) and passive postures (yin). As in every yoga class, attention is paid to breathing and meditation. Usually the first half of the class is yang and the second half is yin. In the yang part the focus is on the muscles, we work on strength, flexibility and sometimes we do a flow. This may vary slightly from lesson to lesson and from teacher to teacher.
By making an effort first, it is easier to surrender to the relaxation that follows in the yin part of the class. You can read what you can expect in the yin part on the page about Yin Yoga »
We also have YinYang as a Hot class »
Can I do a YinYang class?
YinYang is an accessible class, suitable for all levels. Even as a beginner you are welcome. You get different options for each posture that you can adjust to what feels good for you. First time? Let your teacher know at the beginning of the lesson.
Practical
Functional Yoga
At Open Yoga we work from Functional Yoga, which in short means that we recognize that everyone is different, and that every yoga posture looks different per person. We do not look for the perfect picture or what the posture “should” look like. We don’t try to force our bodies into a position; we try to shape the posture to our own body.
