What is Stretch & Flex and is it suitable for me?

During Stretch & Flex we focus on a different muscle group per lesson. The emphasis is on flexibility and mobility rather than strength. We pay a lot of attention to warming up the muscles and various forms of stretching are discussed. In this way we work step by step towards a more complex posture (or series of postures) where a good warm-up is valuable; you often get further into the position and prevent injuries. Tip: this class is recommended if you have muscle pain from a previous workout ;)

Can I do a Stretch & Flex class?

Stretch & Flex is an all-level class that is also suitable for beginners. Because there is a lot of attention to detail, you will receive many instructions during the stretches we do.

Refinement for experienced yogis & athletes

We also regularly see experienced yogis and athletes in the Stretch & Flex classes. It can be instructive to approach a stretch in detail, to refresh your knowledge or to seek refinement. And of course it is also nice to connect with your body and breathing, whatever lesson you do.

Functional Yoga

At Open Yoga we work from Functional Yoga, which in short means that we recognize that everyone is different, and that every yoga posture looks different per person. We do not look for the perfect picture or what the posture “should” look like. We don’t try to force our bodies into a position; we try to shape the posture to our own body.
