Restorative Yoga in Groningen: Rest & Restore
Restorative Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that focuses on relaxation and restoring balance in your body and mind.
We will tell you here exactly what it is, who it is suitable for (hint: for everyone of course), and what it is actually good for.
If you already know enough, you can of course also book your Rest & Restore lesson immediately.
Classes
What is Restorative Yoga and what makes it effective?
Restorative Yoga focuses on deep relaxation and restoring the natural balance in your body. It literally means Restorative Yoga. Unlike dynamic yoga styles such as Hatha and Vinyasa, where you actively hold postures, the postures of Restorative Yoga are passive and are held for longer. We use (a lot of) props, such as pillows, blankets and blocks, to help you fully relax and release tension.
The long-lasting and supportive postures in Restorative Yoga stimulate the functioning of your parasympathetic nervous system. This leads to deep relaxation, recovery of the body and reduction of stress.
Is Restorative Yoga right for me?
Yes! Restorative Yoga is for everyone, whether you are a beginner or experienced. We adapt the postures to your body and needs. If you have an injury, are pregnant or something else is going on, always let your teacher know. This way we can make the lesson as pleasant and safe as possible. Of course, you can always email or call us if you have any questions.
Practical
Is Restorative Yoga the same as Yin Yoga?
Just like Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga falls under the passive forms of yoga. Yet it’s not the same. At Yin we look for a stretch in a specific part of the body for each posture. At Restorative we want to experience as little stretch or compression as possible. Read more about Yin »
