Classes
What is Qigong and is it right for me?
‘Karate for snails’: that’s what you can call Qigong. It doesn’t look very flashy. The dynamics come from within. You coordinate your breathing, movement and attention. Qigong is pronounced ‘chee koeng’. It is an age-old method from Chinese health theory (Traditional Chinese Medicine) to let your life energy flow. We call this life energy ‘qi’ or ‘chi’. The exercises are slow and flowing, making them suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness.
What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is the most common name for Chinese health science. This is a holistic approach to health based on balancing the life energy (Qi) in the body. In addition to Qigong, TCM also includes acupuncture, herbal medicine and cupping.
Practical
Is Tai Chi the same as Qigong?
Almost! Qigong is a somewhat broader term for movement art, breathing exercises and meditation that we apply flexibly. Tai Chi is mainly about slow, flowing movements and has a more structured form.
Qigong for beginners
Qigong is also very suitable for beginners due to the slow movements and guided meditations. However, that doesn’t mean it’s easy, moving slowly can be very challenging ;)
