About yoga teacher Esther
Playful, safe and yet challenging: that is how yogis describe my classes. I am a yoga teacher with a mission: with humor and personal attention, I try to awaken your own curiosity in my classes. How does your body work? What is good for you? Where can you make progress by building strength, and in what cases is it better to let go and relax? There is space for all emotions in my classes. I hope that you leave class feeling happier, but emotions such as sadness are also welcome.
I take yoga seriously, but I try not to take myself too seriously. During the practice we play and try new things, but where relevant I also share yoga philosophy and history with you. For me, a successful class consists of three elements: that you have learned something new, that I have connected with every individual in the room and that we have laughed together. I pay attention to the didactic side of a yoga class and adapt my class to the specific needs of the group. For me, that also means: classes in both fluent English and Dutch.
More than ten years ago I took my first yoga class by chance. In those years my love for yoga has only grown. I have been working as a professional yoga teacher since 2016. During my studies at the RUG, I followed the 200YTT in active alignment based hatha yoga at Open Yoga by Kenny Graham, Mandy Bolder and Dieuwertje Homan. I have now also completed the 300YTT by Kenny Graham, Tony Giuliano and Mike Lane, as well as various workshops and Teacher Intensives by Neda Draupadi Honarvar, Noah Mazé, Darren Rhodes, Sam Rice and Chrissy Graham, among others. I am currently following an online training with Tiffany Cruikshank. As a teacher, I remain a student first and foremost. I learn during every class I teach and attend. I have always been fascinated by the human body. No body is perfect, but every body is brilliant.
Apart from teaching classes and the teacher training programme at Open Yoga I work as a physical therapist in neurorehabilitation. I am certified E-RYT 500 and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Edication Provider).
